Often overlooked in favour of its more famous neighbour Monsal Dale. This dale really is a hidden gem, literally hidden! Many locals don't even know it exists! You have to venture into the dale itself to truly appreciate its breathtaking beauty. It's possible to walk here from Rose Cottage and it really is worth the while. The majestic slopes and imposing crags of carboniferous limestone that form Chee Dale create a spectacular setting for a walk, following the river bed and find the 'Stepping Stones' an Instagrammers delight! PLEASE BE AWARE: It can be tricky to navigate in places and especially when the River Wye is high, and even in fine weather, following the length of the gorge involves some scrambling up and down rock steps which can be slippy when wet.

A selection of scenic circular walks of different lengths are available that will include the hidden gem, Chee Dale. Hop along the stepping stones and enjoy the spectacular scenery.

A glorious walk - fairly uneven in places - accessed along the Monsal Trail. Walk past Millers Dale station to the abseiling bridge. Take the right hand path down to the river. About an hour’s walk - take good walking boots. Walk in a big loop back up to the Monsal Trail.
