If you want an ice cream or a toasty, I really recommend heading down to the World famous pump room opposite the Grand Hotel. They do huge toasted sandwiches, made with Brightons Real patisserie bread. Fruit smoothies,fresh Squeezed orange juice and really good ice cream along with coffee etc. The best thing is it's almost half the price of everywhere else on the beach, it's slightly set back from the main drag, and is non pretentious so tends not to attract sheep. It's a bit of a sun trap and sheltered from the wind, but has shade if its hot. Can be a haven on a blustery cold day. Many locals sit there with their dogs and bicycles. It's close to the volleyball which doubles as a sandpit for children when when not in use.
