Peleș Castle - Former home of the Royal Family This magnificent Neo-Renaissance castle is located in the town of Sinaia, some 60 km from Ploiesti and 45 km from the city of Brasov. Peles Palace is the most representative building in the period of the royalist Romania. It was built between 1873 and 1914 for the king Carol I on the medieval road that links historical regions of Transylvania and Wallachia. It is surrounded by beautiful scenery of foothills of the Carpathian Mountains. It was private property of the Romanian Royal Family until 1947, when the King Michael I of Romania abdicated. After fall of the Communist regime in Romania and death of Nicolae Ceausescu, the whole property that includes neigbouring Pelisor Castle and Foisor Hunting Lodge was returned to the family in 1997. It's worth a visit, don't miss! one of the most beautiful castles in Europe!

Sinaia (Romanian pronunciation: [siˈnaja]) is a town and a mountain resort in Prahova County, Romania. It is situated in the historical region of Muntenia. The town was named after Sinaia Monastery of 1695, around which it was built. The monastery in turn is named after the Biblical Mount Sinai. King Carol I of Romania built his summer home, Peleș Castle, near the town in the late nineteenth century. The city is a popular destination for hiking and winter sports, especially downhill skiing. Among the tourist landmarks, the most important are Peleș Castle, Pelișor Castle, Sinaia Monastery, Sinaia Casino, Sinaia train station, and the Franz Joseph and Saint Anne Cliffs. Sinaia was also the summer residence of the Romanian composer George Enescu, who stayed at the Luminiș villa.
