Just a 23-minute walk from the cottage is a sandy beach on the Bay at Crane Cove Park. San Francisco recently transformed this area of industrial shoreline into a stunning 7-acre park with a sandy beach and a gorgeous vista of the Bay. Plenty of cool historic plaques describe what the area was used for historically with famous giant ships. Crane Cove is named for its two iconic cranes, affectionately named by the community Nick and Nora, which define the identity and skyline of this area. No longer in use but protected by historic designation, the Port seeks to rehabilitate the cranes as visual reminders of the area’s past. Super fun to check out alone on a sunny day, or with friends, fam, and doggos. There's a kids' play area and a dog run area. It's between the Mission Bay and Dogpatch neighborhoods.

Great waterfront park and beach with some plaques that explain Dogpatch history. Bring a picnic chair and lunch and hangout on the grass or on the beach. You can rent stand-up paddleboards across the street and take advantage of being on the East side of the city where we're a bit more sheltered from the wind and fog (but beware: the water is cold!).
