Hayti Heritage Center opened its doors in 1975 in the refurbished sanctuary of St. Joseph’s AME Church, built in 1891, after the congregation moved to a new home. The educational center is dedicated to cultural enrichment and understanding, offering a variety of diverse events, activities and programs that preserve and embrace African-American heritage.

The Hayti Heritage Center opened in 1975 under the management of the St Joseph Historic Foundation.  The Center is a cultural enrichment and arts education facility that promotes cultural understanding through diverse events, activities and programs that preserve the heritage and embrace the experiences of Americans of African descent.
