Although the Abbey is not as large as it used to be it is still a beautiful building. In medieval times it was a Benedictine monastery. Henry VIII reign demolished more of it. Surrounded by the park with a band stand, children's play ground....a wonderful setting.

A golden stone building dating back to 689AD on a site which also once had a stone masonry; the masonry fell victim to Henry VIII’s dissolution and was partly destroyed, but the ruins cast a glimpse of how the monks would have lived.
