Skiing / Snowboarding? Mt Shasta has a you covered. Reasonably Close from Redding for a day trip. Come back and enjoy the hot tub afterwards! Be sure to stop at Yaks on your way to or from the mountain and grab a delicious sticky bun and coffee or a ridiculously good and large hamburger (sharing is encouraged, but no judgement here).

You can see it from here ! There is also Warner Canyon ski area just east of Lakeview about 70 miles from cabin
