The ONLY tree in the world that actually legally owns the itself, or at least the land circling the tree. It is a historical site just west of downtown straight up a cobble street road, where you will have to go around the tree because the road had to be built around the tree. There is a historical marker telling the exact story of how it was able to own itself, but how can you miss the only tree in the world that owns itself? Really?

The famous “Tree that Owns Itself” is a white oak located in Athens, Georgia. Its owner loved it so dearly that upon his death he granted it its autonomy. Sadly, the tree was felled by a windstorm in 1942, after it had grown too old and feeble to survive.
