This is the spot were locals go to the beach. You will hardly see tourists and it is a way to distinguish local people from this area of town. Tanned, well built, cheerful, playing volleyball , surfing or just enjoying their time, usually in groups. It is a "carioca" life style. They meet at the beach instead of entertaining at home, so there is no commitment and you show up if you feel like it and no need to apologies if you don't.
