You can find some gnarly bike trails (mostly black diamond and double black diamond please use caution). There is also an amazing hike down through “Boulder City”. See some of the sweet bike jumps that the local pros have created. Be cautious bears are seen often in this area

Parksville and Errington (25 min north of Nanaimo) occupy a flat stretch of land between the ocean and the mountains. Right in the middle of this plain is Little Mountain, an aptly named mound of rock towering over the landscape. It has beautiful oceanview homes, and you can drive to a tower at the top, where there is a gorgeous mountainside view atop a series of dangerous cliffs. Be extremely careful, as the cliffs appear very suddenly, without warning, and the ground can be slippery - don't go exploring here in the dark!
