Fen Drayton Lakes is a complex of lakes, lagoons, ponds and a river, situated close to Fen Drayton, Holywell and Swavesey in Cambridgeshire, England. The complex was formerly a gravel extraction site until 1992 when gravel production ceased, and the pits were allowed to flood to provide a nature reserve and bird sanctuary.

There are three reserve trails, connecting a network of existing footpaths and bridleways for lots of walking options. The trails will take you through some of the most important habitats on the reserve, giving you a chance to get close to all sorts of wildlife. Take in the views and revel in the wide skies from one of our many viewpoints.

Fen Drayton Lakes began life as a flooded sand and gravel quarry next to riverside meadows. Now, a huge variety of wildlife is drawn to the area, including otters, dragonflies, ducks, swans and geese. There's something to see (and hear) all year round.
