This is a dog friendly cove all year round. Its also the ideal choice for escaping from the crowds. Shingle beach but so idyllic! And has a lot of history....This is Where William III of Orange landed with his 20,000 strong Dutch Army in 1688. See the statue on Brixham Harbour. You can walk to the cove from the cottage, along the coastline and through the historic Battery Gardens, which does not only boast one of the most panoramic views in the bay, it is also a Scheduled Monument. As far back as the 1780s the area was used for military training; most significantly it was a World War II Coastal Defence Battery, with up to 250 soldiers based there. Many of the structures and emplacements from this period are still in existence.

This is on the beach at Fishcombe Cove. You can sit and look out to sea and enjoy the view. it is also a good place for seal watching. You can usually park on the road near the Battery Gardens for free, then walk down through the gardens to the beach.

Away from the busy town, this pebble beach is less well known. Perfect for snorkeling and hunting for crabs under the rocks. At high tide you can swim in from the steps. At low tide rock-shoes are recommended for entering the sea. It is a more sheltered cove with an excellent cafe and well-maintained toilets.
