Local artisan market where you can find leather goods, wooden bowls, pottery, hammocks and all kinds of Nicaraguan souvenirs

Handicrafts Market in Masaya - The crafts market in Masaya is a nice place to get your Nicaraguan souvenirs. A friendly setting and lots of small stands with souvenirs that are not very different but that do offer enough variety to find something for everybody back home.

There is a new market and an old market. Go look in the new tourist market, then shop to buy in the old local market. Prices are 30-40% cheaper in the old market. Basic Spanish and small bills (both US dollars and Cordobas) go a long way in both markets. Bring US denominations between $5-$20, and make sure that all bill are in near mint condition. No vendors will take torn, ragged, tattered, or written-on bills. Many craftsmen work on-site.
