A restored round tower castle built in 1495. Intimate tours by the owners Cyril and Margie Cullen bring out the history and story of the renovation, and Cyril produces his own exquisite porcelain, and also designs knitwear which are available to purchase. Visiting is free, tours by Cyril are €6 only. Harp recitals in the drawing room are available by prior arrangement. The castle was owned briefly by King Henry VIII, and has been occupied for short periods by two other English monarchs, namely King James 1st from 1617 – 1625, and King George 1st from 1716 -1721. Open Mondays thru Saturdays, 10am-6pm. Eircode: E41 NY04 20 mins drive from Bluebell Cottage, on the way to both Holycross Abbey and the Rock of Cashel.
