Built in the C17th, this magnificent building is steeped in history. Originally built as a hunting lodge to entertain aristocracy and royalty, it was for centuries the family seat of the Weld family, the current owners of the Lulworth Estate. Ravaged by fire in 1929, it has been partly restored in a pioneering partnership with English Heritage. With extensive parkland, woodland walks, a children’s playground, the spacious grounds are yours to enjoy. Visit the Castle Tearoom for refreshments and souvenirs.

17th century former hunting lodge built to house the King and Court. It stands at the heart of a 12000-acre estate, which dates back to the 11th Century. The estate boasts beautiful walks, impressive 15th Century church, children’s playground and cafe.

A great place to visit, full off history, truly unique and a total surprise inside. Really good value, visit the castle, church, chapel and the garden, which have garden games set out in good weather. Also lovely out eating area. Pay to park and just walk the grounds or add castle entrance for the total experience. Lulworth castle grounds are the site of the annual Bestival festival. Trip can be combined with a trip to Lulworth Cove.

Be sure to check online opening times as they do host weddings and private events which can mean the castle is closed to the public at those times.
