The Welcome Creek Trailhead offers a classic swinging pedestrian bridge over Rock Creek. It is a wonderful place to hang out, particularly on a hot summer afternoon or evening. There is an outhouse at the trailhead. The trail itself is a gradual walk up a tight valley. The trail is only lightly maintained. If you choose to explore the trail, wear long pants and embrace the adventure. This more southerly stretch of Rock Creek Road that leads to the swinging bridge at Welcome Creek Trailhead is unpaved and somewhat more rugged than the lower stretches of Rock Creek Road.
