Museum 'in situ'- unique type of museum. Roman Temple from 1st century with the building of museum builded above it. In 1995 a sensational discovery of the remains of a outsized Roman temple – the Augusteum – and 17 marble statues in natural height. These finds inspired the idea of presenting this unique archaeological site in an integral fashion, including both architectural remains and other specimens of the ample archaeological materials.

The Archeological Museum of Narona in Vid, built on top of a former Narona forum, IN SITU, has covered a unique and impressive set of remains of Augusteum, a temple to the divined Augustus built in the year 10 B.C. In 1995 a Roman temple was discovered and contained statues of the emperors Claudius and Vespasian, as well as two of Augustus and his wife Livia. The statues had been vandalized in the 4th century: they were lying on the floor and their heads had been broken off. The heads of Vespasian and one of the Livias had been acquired in the surrounding area by Arthur Evans in 1878. The heads were thus reunited with their bodies.
