Stunning Puddleduck Cottage, Centre of World Heritage Site.

The award winning PUDDLEDUCK COTTAGE is a 15 minute stroll from England's largest lake. A superbly well-equipped and spacious period property built circa 1850 from Lakeland slate is located centrally in Windermere village with shops, bars, restaurants, train, bus and taxi facilities all close by. Enjoy spectacular panoramic World Heritage Site views over the lake from Orrest Head summit a short walk from the cottage or take a relaxing stroll to the lake in around 15 minutes. Enjoy the real flame fire, or relax and watch the world go by from the beautiful walled garden and slate patio. Stunning Windermere’s famous Puddleduck cottage is a very warm, cosy but also spacious Victorian era slate cottage recently refurbished in a relatively contemporary style, but remaining sympathetic to the era of its creation. Queen Victoria herself dropped by in 1887 during her golden jubilee celebrations and the street was named after her. A long hallway leads to a spacious and very comfortable lounge equipped with HDTV with many freeview and pay per view channels, bluetooth speaker, wifi, DVD, luxurious deep seated leather furniture, solid oak flooring and coffee table, lamps and an exposed slate chimney breast. Local art adorns the walls. A spacious well equipped kitchen/ diner is finished to a high standard with solid oak units. A separate utility room to the rear of the cottage houses a washing machine, tumble dryer and large fridge freezer as well as a Worcester Bosch central heating boiler. You will find a very handy downstairs toilet and wash basin as well as a clothes drying area, coat and shoe storage providing plenty of storage for backpacks and walking gear. 2 good sized bedrooms with King sized beds and top quality mattresses, linen and sumptuous pillows are designed to ensure you have the best sleep possible during your stay at Puddleduck. The main bathroom upstairs is well equipped and maybe you will want to add some drops of your favourite essential/ bath oil and relax in the solid steel bath after a day’s activities and use the electronic candles to create a relaxing ambience or take a shower if you prefer? A private walled patio / garden area with cafe style table and chairs, planted window boxes and beautiful subtle led lighting automatically programmed to provide evening illumination within the natural slate patio slabs to the front of the cottage is just perfect for unwinding with a drink or two whilst watching village life pass by. Booths supermarket 150 yards away, offers the finest range of groceries, deli counter, fresh bakery as well as wines and craft beers you are likely to find anywhere. The wall mounted bird feeders and birdhouses on the patio are made locally from china tea pots and tea cups and saucers. Families of sparrows, robins and other birds are regular visitors to Puddleduck. Be sure to let us know what you see. The entire cottage is provided - for your comfort and privacy. You will be met at the door and you can contact the host by telephone for any help or information. Puddleduck cottage, named after the famous Beatrix Potter character, benefits from a stunning central location in the beautiful Victorian village of Windermere in the English Lake District National Park - a World Heritage site. Numerous interesting boutiques, cafes, and restaurants are only a couple of minutes away, ideal for lovers of quality food, craft ales, wines, beers and spirits. The finest supermarket in the Lake District is located just 300 yards away. Take a walk to Bowness-on-Windermere and take a boat trip or stroll up to Orrest Head for panoramic lake views or check out the many outdoor pursuits available locally or just enjoy the fresh air and spectacular views. Windermere train station, bus station, taxi rank and cycle hire station is about 300 yards from Puddleduck cottage. Direct rail links to Manchester airport and West coast mainline serving London /Scotland. Open top double decker tour buses complete circular tours of Windermere , Bowness and Ambleside and pass the cottage regularly. Ditch the car and walk, cycle or take one of the great value taxis around the area. A taxi to Bowness will cost around £5 and takes 5 minutes - you can walk there in 20 mins. The amazing Booths supermarket is located just 200 yards away from the cottage and a very handy late night Sainsburys and a Co-op are also only approximately 300 yards away - fantastic facilities for those last minute/ or late night treats! The Golden Mountain Chinese takeaway is only 50 yards away and provides excellent Chinese food and incredible value - and is very popular with the locals from the surrounding towns and villages. On street parking outside the cottage is almost always available overnight after the shops and banks start to close from 5pm and your car is fine there until 10am the next day. In any event, a parking permit is provided so the car can be parked in a local authority official car park at the very safe Broad street car park ( a very pleasant 3 minute walk through the bustling village, and the permit provides free parking at many other local authority car parks in other local towns such as Bowness, Ambleside and Kendal - handy for exploring and can save you £7 per day! There is also plenty of free on- street parking in and around the village if you prefer. Many guests prefer to unload the car outside the cottage and take advantage of the free car parking facility for the duration of their stay. Access to and from the car park in the village is really easy and so the choice is yours. Remember, the train station, bus terminus, 4x4 car hire, cycle hire, taxi and boat hire all available nearby. Everything you need is within walking distance of Puddleduck and the reason why Puddleduck cottage really is the prime location for a lake district break.
