Skelgill FarmhouseSkelgill Farm is a large detached house nestled on the lower slopes of Catbells in the Newlands Valley. The origins of the house are lost in time, but sections of the house date back pre 1400s (part of one internal wall is actually bedrock). The house was modified in the 18th century and is pictured in Beatrix Potter’s “The Tale of Mrs Tiggywinkle”. The property has large sash windows giving excellent views of Causey Pike across the valley and Skiddaw to the North.
