Your upstairs-dwelling hosts, Shira and Rumen, are a hospitable couple in their early 60s who are international musicians, cultural workers, and longtime Berkeley residents.

Built in 1925, Maybecks' “Cubby” is your private, rustic, 750 sq ft, carriage house located less than a mile from Cal. Homey and basic - the deck is great for lunch, dinner, or just hanging out. It's an easy walk down to the gourmet ghetto, Thursday Markets, buses and BART. Carport provided, a car is recommended (hey it's located in the hills.) Not baby proofed, minimal fencing - sorry, no pets, babies or toddlers. Smoke free, no butts about it. Sorry, no loud music, or large gatherings.

Slip into the backyard on our quiet street to find a vibrant garden beside a cozy Moroccan-inspired studio. Listen to the birds from the bedroom window and depending on the season, you may smell magnolia, jasmin or lemon verbana. There's a small bathroom with a shower, and some basic kitchen amenities--coffee maker (French press and drip), microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge. Please note: there is no formal kitchen to cook.

You need have no contact with owners. Completely separate building with own entrance & no contact on arrival or departure. Lovely sunny room opening to a serene and private patio for outdoor relaxing. In a quiet but vibrant community. Located halfway up the steep Berkeley hillside in a quiet residential area. The space has amazing natural light with 4 skylights and garden facing windows. There is a patio deck with table and chairs to enjoy meals outdoors. Previously an art studio, now a simple detached cottage at the entrance of our property.
