The museum shop at the Pompidou Center’s Musée National d’Art Moderne is an obligatory stop. It’s like a glass cube floating in the lobby. Inside, you’ll find cool objects curated in connection with the current exhibitions, like super-chic Cy Twombly phone cases or colorful plates adorned with famous Magritte objects. Exhibits often offer limited-edition items. If you’re a collector, don’t wait until the end of the run to buy these souvenirs—they only make so many!

Wooden shelves against white walls in this boutique create an atmosphere of calm. The wide variety of handmade Japanese products are curated by husband-and-wife team Thierry Lemoine and Arrow Nakajima. You’ll find items for all budgets: tableware, fashion accessories, and beauty products like fish-shaped soap from Tamanohada. They receive new arrivals every Thursday and occasionally host special, Japanese-themed events, like ikebana flower arranging, tea ceremonies, or gift wrapping.

A store in the Marais that combines market-fresh food with high fashion. I usually have lunch at the excellent café from chef Linda Granebring. Then I go next door to flip through independent magazines like Dust or Document. The carefully curated selection of men’s and women’s wear includes Vetements, Raf Simons, and Lemaire. There is no free wifi at the café, so bring a book or pick up a magazine at the shop.

The pioneer of all Parisian concept stores, and surely the best in the world. I worked here when they opened over 15 years ago. The store carries fashion, tech, and accessories that no one else has. Many are exclusive collaborations with brands like Le Labo, Yazbukey, and Beats by Dre. They also host book signings, concerts, and more. Their logo with two blue dots is famous all around the world—and that particular shade of blue is now known as Colette!

This temple of fashion is the Korean answer to Colette. It offers an incredible selection of young international designers and established Korean brands like Ader Error, System, and Deke. You pass through a kind of slatted, wooden wall to enter. The decor is very surprising: modern and minimalist with a lovely dark parquet floor. This is the multibrand department store’s first international outpost outside Seoul.

Think of it as paradise for men who like to be looked after. You can get a shave or a cut and also find French, Japanese, and American niche brands like Vetra, Anonymous Ism, and Gitman Vintage. The space mixes industrial design touches with mismatched furniture, and stocks a wide variety of special-edition sneakers. There are only two barber chairs, so book an appointment ahead of time. If they are running behind schedule, kill some time with brunch at nearby Rose Bakery and a visit to my Maison Kitsuné store, just around the block.

Perfume is a science at this scent lab in the 2nd arrondissement. The store is dedicated to beauty, with a big selection of products from niche brands like Diptyque, L’Artisan Parfumeur, D.R. Harris, and REN. There’s interesting artwork on the walls, but the bottles themselves, displayed like vials of medicine, are the real gem. They have a perfume diagnosis tool to help you discover the best fragrance for your gender, age, and olfactory preferences. They then provide samples to try based on the results.
