Welcome to The Sleeping Bear Retreat. We are a unique property, spanning 6+ acres, of the most beautiful wooded mountain top setting. We are less than 8 minutes from the center of town, and JT’s amazing shops and food scene. PennsPeak, Paintball, River Rafting, skiing, amazing hiking and biking trials all close by! This is a private studio lodge room, with a private entrance, detached from the main house. After the day’s adventures are complete you will be comfortable, warm, and relaxed!

This stylish and unique place sets the stage for a memorable trip. We purchased The Terry House, in January of 2023 and have been renovating the home for the last two years. This room is on the 2nd floor inspired by Jackie Kennedy featuring antique and historic art work. This private room is spacious, with a queen bed as well as private baths and a mini fridge in the room. There is a common area space called the parlor room on the first floor with a Keurig and microwave for you to use.

Immediately convenient to Minnewaska Cliffs, Mohonk trails, pick your own orchards, vineyards, and the charming towns of New Paltz and Gardiner. Our flock of friendly sheep is always open to pets and chin scratches.

The Inn at The Garrison is part of the lovely country property The Garrison, in a spectacular setting overlooking the Hudson River and surrounding highlands. During the winter months the inn is very relaxing but may be quiet for some. The inn rooms are private and located on the 2nd floor; there is no elevator. *Please note that the Valley Restaurant & Bar are CLOSED currently.*

You can bike or walk to restaurants, the Lehigh River, Lehigh Gorge State Park, and local attractions. The downtown area is 1 mile from the property, but please note it will be up hill to return! Our tavern is open for food, beer, wine and cider Fri-Mon, 5-9p. Coffee, fridge and charcoal grills are provided.
