It is a little bit off the center and therefore usually more quiet. The owner is Portugese and the food is divine. There is lots of room and still it is charming.

It is small but the coffee, smoothies and the organic food are delectable. It has a little grocery section and serves as a restaurant and cafe. It is close to Lamar Park .

It's an artsy place that has couches and tables. So if you need to get some work done or just want to hang out and read or enjoy a conversation with a friend, it is the perfect place.

This little gem 6 N Tubbs Bagels is open Sundays for Bagels and located behind the Pizza place, called 6 N Tubbs marked on the map. During the week the place offers lunch. The owner Dennis is a real character and the bagels (boiled before baking) and bialy (not boiled; a flat breakfast roll that has a depressed center and is usually covered with onion flakes.) are one of a kind and very affordable. He also sells vegetable cream cheese, lox and capers cream cheese, or strawberry or blueberry cream cheese.

If you ever want to go on a little trip and leave Oxford this pizza place is amazing. Their Magnolia Pizza came in second in a national pizza contest. Their noodle dishes are wonderful as well and the place has a lot of atmosphere. Wood oven pizza! There also is a little desert shop right next to it.

Drinks & Nightlife

Legendary, especially when you sit on their porch looking out on the Square. Great snacks if so on the pricey side.

Arts & Culture

William Faulkner won the Nobel Prize for Literature. He lived and worked in Rowan Oaks and on the grounds. Need I say anything more. Park at the University Museum and take the 0.5 mile trail to Rowan Oak; it is worthwhile and parking is much easier there.

Parks & Nature

The lake is nice and the trails length are marked--good for a running workout. There is sculpture art in the park and some pretty houses to look at and on the park's edge is Living Foods--a cute organic food store and cafe which serves smoothies, homemade popsickles in enticing flavors.

Whirlpool Trails are good for taking a walk and running. There is a main trail that goes more or less straight to the end and there are smaller trails that branch off to the sides. If you come from 6 and merge onto Old Taylor the trail begins on the right side after the pedestrian crossing.

Shopping

This place has recently seen some renovations and has fresh local produce, bulk grains, local grass-fed beef products, like Italian sausage and bratwurst. It's small but definitely worth a trip. They also carry Brown Family Farm milk.
