Three centuries of architecture. Built for Cardinal Richelieu by architect Lemercier, builder of the Sorbonne, the main body (1634), facing the Louvre, became a royal residence (Regency of Anne of Austria) then the family of Orleans from 1661. The Comédie-Française, the Théâtre du Palais-Royal and the Grand Véfour restaurant, with a listed historical monument, contribute to its reputation. Contemporary art is also strongly present in his courtyard with Buren's columns and two mobile fountains by Pol Bury (1985).
