Food Scene

Awesome breakfast spot. Make sure you pick up some local honey while you’re there. Place fills up fast so go early, then go hike at Carl Sandburg’s Connemara.

Great pizza and other creative menu items. Doesn’t take reservations but enjoy a cocktail in the bar while you wait.

Likely the fanciest restaurant on Main Street, and worth it for a special event. Tuesday’s are burger nights. Really delicious.

My favorite for sushi in Hendersonville. Make sure you try the spicy crab salad and Dynamite roll. They do take reservations, which I recommend as they are always busy. Also available for take out.

Great food, great bar, great atmosphere. Check out their rooftop bar open (pretty much) year-round. Bonus points for being open to 11pm. (Oh, and my husband and I ate a delicious dinner with fine service - and cocktails - for $50. Can't beat that!) It's always one of Hendersonville's favorite places to eat so we highly recommend using their online reservation system. Otherwise, you'll be waiting a while...

Great Peruvian food, just down the street. Easy to order online and a quick five minute drive to pick up.

Located in Arden (midway between Asheville & Hendersonville), this great, sometimes overlooked restaurant has a serious bar menu and food game. Pretty relaxed inside - and they have an area for outside seating as well.

Drinks & Nightlife

Great place for wine flights, brews and craft cocktails. Live music most nights. Located in the alley below West First Pizza, they offer a limited menu from them if you get hungry.

Located just 4 minutes down the road, Bold Rock has become "THE" place to hang out, drink some delicious hard cider and catch up with friends. They have a permanent food truck onsite, so you can chow down too. Dog-friendly as well. Check out their website and see who's playing.

Okay, okay, I know we have Bold Rock a short drive but honestly, Appalachian Ridge's ciders are my favorite. (And who doesn't love independent, local businesses?) Just opened in 2018, this is the sister business to Saint Paul Vineyards, another one of the local wineries (owned by the same family). Located in apple country, both places (just across the street from one another) offer peaceful, beautiful views of the vines and trees that make their products. A personal fave.

Sightseeing

If you haven’t seen it, you really should go. You can spend a whole day here. Make sure you spend time at the winery too. Free tastings. Great restaurants on site too. Pricey but it’s really an experience. It’s about a 30 min drive from our place. And yes, we have traffic here so check before you go

Parks & Nature

Hiking, hiking, hiking. You’ll have trouble picking which place to go... we do get a lot of tourists during the warm months so be prepared.

Easily my favorite place to go. Only 20 minutes from our place, there are easy to challenging hikes everywhere. Make sure you see Bridal Veil Falls, consider sliding down Sliding Rock (yes it’s cold as heck but everyone should do it once), and no trip to Pisgah is complete without ice cream from Dolly’s (located right before the entrance to the park in the right side if the road).

One of Anna's favorites. Go visit Triple Falls and see where the original Hunger Games was filmed. This state forest easily packs 'em in on weekends so park carefully and be mindful of others on the trails. And - ALWAYS - pack it in, take it out.
