Take the train to UW, walk up the big lawn, go to the Neo-gothic building that looks like a cathedral. Inside, on the top floor, is the Reading Room. Turn off your phone, and don't talk. Not even whispers. People are here to throw down some serious study time, and lots of them are grad students or working on their PhD's, so wait to make noise until you're somewhere else. BUT...if you want to hang around and READ...go ahead! It's a beautiful reading room.

This environment is magical. James Turrell is a wizard with space and light, and it's rare to get to experience his work. It costs a little bit to visit the Henry, but it's one of our best art spots in Seattle, and the Turrell room can heal you from what ails you.

Yes, even the locals go here a lot. We love it, it's not just for tourists. But...skip the piroshki and the Starbucks. Enjoy the arts and crafts vendors, and the food stalls. The restaurants in the main part of the market are really fun. Flowers too. It's an amazing place! Budget plenty of time for this one. It can be chaotic in the warmer months, lots of people packed in together.

Oh my God. So many reasons. But what we do, is order a bunch of the sides, then feast until we can't move. This is such an amazing place. The folks who run it and work here know how to host too. They do it right. Every time.

A couple blocks southwest of us is the Light Rail that can get you from the Airport to UW passing through downtown.
