We love learning hands on. Some of these Museums are in town a few are a little bit of a drive but well worth your time.
Free museum that is fun for any age. Great for adults and kids alike. They have a tree house that kids can adventure in. There is also a tractor simulator and air plane cockpit for kids. Anyone who enjoys history will have fun here.

Great library with wonderful childrens area. Great fish tank, computers with children's games, games and puzzles. A really fun day for the cost of free:)

Go for a walk and snap some great photos at the North Dakota State Capitol. If you go in the main building, you can ask the receptionist and they will give you directions to the very top floor. Peer at all of Bismarck surrounding you!

Great creation museum. So interesting! A drive of about 3 hours each way. Totally worth the drive. Stop in Medora along the way for a meal and let the kids play at the Medora playground.

A fun town to visit and go hiking in the national park right next to it. It is a drive of 2.5 hours each way but well worth the trip if you are in Bismarck. The playground is awesome. We always get pizza from Badlands Pizza Parlor and salt water taffy from the Candy Shop.

A beautiful place to enjoy a beach, picnic, hiking. Amazing! A 3 hour 15 minute drive from Bismarck each way but well worth it. Hit up the International Peace Gardens since you are so close. A wonderful trip you will remember for years to come.
