Easy walking distance from the house. Good choice of beers on tap which change regularly. On our last visit they had Two Birds stout and Pirate Life stout, it was very hard to choose. They can cater for most live TV requests (like football) which might make up for the house not having live TV...

Food Scene

Several local cafes buy their vanilla slices from here. Busted! We also love the crusty long bread rolls (best eaten straight away) my favourite pie is the Thai green chicken curry, the profiteroles are also good. Very cheap, even by bakery standards.

Extensive range of craft beers. Creative menu. Games, like giant Jenga. Our kids love ‘The Melon’ because they have a 20c lolly machine. It’s hidden in the back lounge, near the door for the beer garden with the table tennis table.

Entertainment & Activities

It's a little different to most modern cinemas. Ballarat's regent cinema is in a historic building and most of the cinemas are beautiful. Tuesdays are cheap. Parking is a bit of a pain, walking here takes less than 20 minutes (with our school age kids).

Kids need a good run around? The Robinhood is walking distance in good weather. Or a short drive. They have an indoor play area with inflatables and a small playground etc. plus parmas and chicken nuggets. This place is a guilty pleasure for us. The lunch specials are great value

Sightseeing

Lovely spot for a picnic, feeding the ducks, seeing the famous black swans (best not to feed them... they get a bit bitey!) take a walk. Ride a bike. Excellent spot for a run. Enjoy.
