There's a kids' corner so parents can enjoy a proper dinner out and actually have a nice conversation while the kids are happily occupied. The food's good, there's a big open fire plus an outdoor fireplace in the al fresco area and it's good value for money.

Eat has the best coffee in town, hands down, and the food is something very special. If you're vegan or have any particular dietary requirements, prepare to be indulged, as owner, Dawn, produces some seriously amazing gluten/dairy free and vegan/vegetarian treats.

Just across the road from the Kune Classic there's a kid's playground and open grass area for the kids to run off some steam.

To the left of the road as you face the mountain there's a nice short walking/biking path along the Mangawhero River. A nice easy flat walk that you can take the kids on.

Take the kids for a walk up to the Carrot Park - you can get there through a nice walkway from the back of the information centre. The park has a vegetable theme to reflect the market gardening in the area and it's got a well equipped playground.
