It used to be a notorious problem area where most people would not go. Now it is one of the most popular and safe neighborhoods of Rotterdam. In February 2012 Katendrecht was connected over the Rhine harbor bridge with the Wilhelminapier.

Due to the large surface area , it is possible to have about five exhibits take place at the same time . The museum has also about 25 different exhibitions every year.
