Sightseeing

The historic and abandoned mining town of Rush is a short and scenic drive - less than three miles, from our Redbud Cottage. On the edge of the lower Buffalo river wilderness area, many interesting structures remain from this once prosperous zinc mining village. Rush landing is a popular area for canoe takeout, fishing and swimming, and features several well-groomed trails for hiking and sightseeing.

This beautiful park, administered by the National Park Service, is our close neighbor and a popular recreational area on the lower Buffalo river. The park is well maintained and features five hundred foot bluffs, moderate hiking trails, and a wonderful stretch of the river - ideal for swimming and fishing. During your visit be sure to check out the park restaurant on a high bluff overlooking the river (open Memorial Day to Labor Day).
