The bay beach at the end of East Landing Rd. Is a great place to walk to for the sunset and for kids. It is a .6 mile walk/drive from the house. Turn right out of the driveway and go to the end of Washington Heights, cross over Newtown Rd. Onto East Landing Rd. A parking pass is required in the summer between 9am-6pm.

Ponquogue Beach is the main ocean beach right across Ponquogue bridge. It has a large parking lot, bathrooms, lifeguards and concessions during the summer. Non-resident daily passes are $30 for any town beach.

Westhampton Beach is a pretty town, about 20 minutes west of HB and very walkable for shopping and dining. I really enjoy the farmers market, held in town on Saturdays at 9am.

Food scene
This is a great place on the water. Creative tacos and rum punch are top notch. The parking lot fills up fast, but there is a satellite lot and shuttle bus just up the road. They accept reservations.

Cowfish is the sister restaurant of Rumba. It is also on the water, and a bit more upscale. The Adirondack chairs, seating areas and outside bar are an excellent spot to spend a summer evening. There is also a cute pirate ship play area for the kids. Make a reservation if you can, and don’t miss the BBQ shrimp appetizer!

They have great traditional slices and pies, and also many interesting renditions. My favorite is the “New Fashioned” which has fresh mozzarella and vodka sauce. Don’t forget garlic knots!

Canal Cafe is very close to the house, and has delicious food. They are open seasonally, so check the website before going. They do not take reservations, but do have a few picnic tables where you can get a drink from the bar and sit watching the boats while you wait. My go-to order is the small lobster roll.

Red Creek Park is fairly close to the house. It has pavilions, playgrounds, hiking trails, tennis courts, soccer and baseball fields. There are also basketball courts and volleyball.

Good Ground Park is just a couple miles from the house. It is a fairly new park with a playground, bathrooms, trails and a beautiful performance space where concerts are held on Thursday nights in the summer. Just bring chairs and a packed cooler!
