City/town information

Soldotna is only 11 miles from Sterling. It's a great town to explore by walking the boardwalk along the Kenai River. Each Wednesday evening in summer, after the market activities, local and national artists perform on a bluff overlooking the Kenai River in gorgeous Soldonta Creek Park.

Homer is at the end of the Sterling Highway, 200 miles south of Anchorage surrounded by wilderness and ocean. Known as the Halibut Fishing Capital of the World and the City of Peonies. Homer's museums, art galleries, fine dining and seaside accommodations, all help create Alaska-sized memories to last a lifetime. This unique combination of location, commerce, beauty, and wilderness makes Homer a wonderful place to visit, and a great place to live! Homer's location is the closest to Katmai National Park & Preserve and Lake Clark National Preserve and our bear viewing operators are ready to take you to see the bears in their natural habitat. From June through September, brown bears congregate on coastal sedge flats and streams in the vast wilderness of the parks. The bears feast on abundant grasses and clams in the Spring, then on salmon swimming home to spawn, and finally on berries and seeds as they prepare for Winter.

Located in the middle of the peninsula, the small town also sits at the intersection of the Kenai and Russian Rivers, which makes it an especially fertile fishing spot. World class Rainbow fishing is readily available and the salmon that make it all the way to Kenai Lake are still full of fight. It's not all about fishing in this town. Any adventure you seek is here in this town! Rafting, hiking, birdwatching, wildlife viewing, mountain biking and much more.

Book all your adventures in advance

It is best to plan and book your Alaskan Adventures early. Your fishing guides, fishing charters, fly outs and activities sometimes can change due to weather so it's good to have some flexibility in your schedule as well.
