I really like the Ocean Grill & Tiki bar down on the pier towards Kure Beach. The food is pretty tasty and they make great drinks, it’s probably the best place on the island to eat with an ocean view.

One of the closest places to the cottage is The Spot. Their regular menu is mostly very competent bar food, but their specials really shine and the staff is very friendly.

In my opinion the best food on the island can be found at the Salt Fish, but it’s a pretty small place so reservations can be tough to get on the weekends.

Another favorite of ours is Soul Flavor, they have a nice mixture of southern classics with an Asian influence, and they also have great specials.

You also can’t go wrong at Havana’s, their food is consistently very good, and it is one of the few places that is usually able to do takeout when things are busy, which is great on the weekends when waits get long.

The Sea Witch is usually a pretty good time, with fun live bands on the weekend. The food there is pretty solid but it can get pretty crowded so we usually just go for drinks & the band.

Breakfast
I really like Kate’s pancake house but the waits can be very long during the season so you have to get there early or wait. Their menu is extensive, I like the wide variety of Benedict’s.

Gulfstream is also pretty good and usually less busy. They’re open for more than just breakfast but that’s usually when I go.
