Sightseeing

One of the best views in Bergen. Simply travel to city center and take the "Fløybanen" (funicular) all the way to the top and enjoy the view. If you aren't afraid of a little hiking you can also walk up and enjoy some of the city's enchanting narrow streets and special houses. Check out map and instructions here: https://www.floyen.no/en

Iconic location in Bergen, it's what makes Bergen "Bergen". The pier in Bergen, which is also known as Hansabryggen ("Hansapier") and Tyskerbryggen ("Germanpier"), is on UNESCO's World Heritage List as a World Heritage Site. Inspiration for the city Arendal in Disney's Frozen.

Directly behind the house is the mountain top "Geitanuken". Its a steep hike but well worth the trip. Just follow the path through the forest and the path towards the top of the mountain.

Bryggen and Fisketorget (the fish market) is basically the two must-sees in Bergen when visiting. If you havent seen both, you havent really been here. The fish market has historic significance and is one of the earliest international fishmarkets. Feel free to just look around, or buy excellent fresh sea-food. But be warned, its expensive, even for Norwegian standards. Visiting a nearby fish restaurant is better if you want to actually eat more than just a snack.

Food Scene

Probably the best fine-dining sea-food restaurant in Bergen, visited by celebrities, presidents, royalty. Go to bergen center pier and take the boat directly to the restaurant, they have both lunch and dinner reservations. Needs pre-booking, visit their website: https://corneliusrestaurant.no PS, they grow their own sea-shells (clams, oysters etc) and have a HUGE wine cellar.

Their fish-soup and fishcakes are known by everyone who lives in Bergen. When they went broke a few years ago, the whole city cried out loud and new investors pushed money into their company to keep them afloat. Everything in the shop is cheap and delicious. We often stop by there for a take-away soup while visiting the city center.

Car or train-ride required. Voss, if you like extreme sports, this is where you need to go. They have it all. Skydiving, both by plane and by windtunnel. Rafting. Mountain biking. And all other x-games related things. Besides that, its a nice small town (and its on the way to Flåm).

Samgöngur

The bus is the easiest way to get around

Download the "Skyss ticket" app beforehand since its not possible (i think or at least very expensive) to buy on the bus.
Siðir og menning

If hiking people might say "hei" or "hallo"

Norwegians usually dont talk to strangers, but for some reason we always greet people when we are hiking. So dont get startled if someone greets you, simply respond back "hei" and carry on :D
