~ 6 miles: "A great little adventure! Tour is about 35 minutes . The guide was amusing and very knowledgeable about the caverns. The tour was cool. Bring a jacket, some parts were a little chilly and there may be a little water dripping from the cave ceiling. Overall enjoyed seeing the otherworldly-looking rock formations!

~14 miles: Historic pre-Civil War Era town and location of the bloodiest battle in American History, the Battle of Antietam. On September 17, 1862 there were over 23,000 casualties on these hallowed grounds. Presently the town looks very much as it did in the 1800s. Modern day conveniences have been added, but have been carefully planned out so as not to interfere with the historical nature of the town. There is Ghost Tours 301-991-0265. Sharpsburg is nestled beside the Antietam Battlefield, with various attractions, such as the C&O Canal, Harper’s Ferry, Washington Monument State Park, South Mountain, Crystal Grottoes Caverns, and many others just a short drive away.
