We highly recommend this Dewey's location over the HarborWalk location due to its casual vibes, dock and porch seating, and stunning sunset views. This is truly the BEST place to catch the sunset over the water, facing Crab Island. Freshest peel 'n eat shrimp around, the line may look long, but moves quickly since you order at the counter before finding your table. Pick a great picnic table and your food will be brought out to you!

Visit Henderson Beach State Park (in Destin) for a quieter beach. Admission is $6/car and restroom facilities are available. It can fill up, so plan to arrive earlier in the day to have the best chances of getting in.

A car (personal or rented) will make things easier
Destin, Okaloosa Island (home to Gulfarium, putt putt, adventure park, and fishing pier) and Seaside are all reachable by car. Ubers are plentiful, but we recommend considering renting a car if you flew in to make getting around easier. The neighborhoods in and around Miramar Beach are all walkable and bike-able, but to explore other areas a car will be necessary.

Consider booking a pontoon boat or jet skis for a day
Getting out on the water is an excellent way to explore the beautiful area, and there are many companies in Destin that provide rentals (a boating license is required and can be acquired on-site). Certain companies also provide chartered boat tours to Crab Island, Okaloosa Island, and the surrounding beaches.

Crab Island sandbar
Visit the shallow waters located at the junction of Destin and Okaloosa Island. Only accessible by watercraft, the waters are calm, clear, and a great place to spend the afternoon. Vendors are available selling things like ice cream, drinks, and snacks out of their boats/kayaks. The scene caters to the 21+ crowd. If you have smaller children, we would encourage you to visit the shallow waters on the north side of Okaloosa Island for a similar water experience without the party environment.
