The Summit has a great dinner menu and an even better view of Summit Mountain from the dining room - and it's only a short drive from the Heart Butte Cutoff Road!

Amazing Mexican food, and very popular with both locals and tourists as shown by the lines out front during dinner. Plan ahead but worth the wait.

Watch for animals on the road

A year-round concern, but especially in the summer - watch out for animals on the roads, particularly at night. Deer and elk are of concern in the mountains and wooded areas, but drivers should be ESPECIALLY CAREFUL of black cows on the roads everywhere else in Glacier County in the summer. Please drive under the speed limit and pay attention to anything on the road as collisions with animals account for fatalities every year.

Clothing Layers are Key

Even in the summer the weather is often unpredictable with temperatures sometimes dropping to just above freezing at night. While it's not necessary to pack your heaviest winter coat for a trip in July or August, being mindful of drastic temperature changes will make your trip not only more enjoyable but also safer. For this reason, layered clothing is key. Packing light-weight long underwear isn't a bad idea, we recommend the following essentials: 2-3 pairs of wool or polyester blend socks (not cotton), a fleece or heavy sweatshirt, a lined windbreaker or light jacket, & a lightweight poncho.
