Eleven Mile Canyon is our local hidden gem! It is a 9-mile-long, beautiful canyon road that runs along the South Platte River. It is the old Midland Railroad, there are camping areas and rest areas along the way. A very popular area for fishing and the local bald eagles' nest in the canyon in the winter. This is a toll road, $7 per vehicle, and there is no lake access.

This is one of the richest and most diverse fossil deposits in the world. These petrified redwood stumps are up to 14 feet wide, and thousands of detailed fossils of insects and plants reveal the story of a very different, prehistoric Colorado.

Things to do in the area
Enjoy a day of world class fly fishing, paddle boarding or kayaking at Eleven Mile Reservoir, ATVing, boating, biking and hiking. The popular fishing areas are Eleven Mile Reservoir, Eleven Mile Canyon, Spinney Mountain, Antero and Tarryall, as well as areas in the South Platte River, including the Dream Stream!
Lake George is known for Rockhounding; it has produced some of the best Amazonite, Smokey Quartz and Topaz in the state of Colorado.
Other local attractions are the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument and the Colorado Wolf & Wildlife Center.

Welcome to Mountain River Lodge and Cabins! Thank you for choosing to stay with us.The Ice Machine and a vending machine is located in the Cold Cellar, the first building by the east entrance of the property. Your ice bucket is located on the nightstand. Wi-fi information is on the back of your cabin door. For the TV, the black remote is for the power, the white controller is for changing the channels. Feel free to use the robes and slippers during your stay. You may keep your slippers upon departure. You are welcome to use the patio.

During a fire ban (Park County), fires are not allowed in the fireplace, but guests are welcome to use the propane fire pits. The grills on the patio are available for guests use. We offer seasonings, plates and utensils in the cabinet under the Grill39 Prep Station. To use the heater in your cabin, the first set of numbers is the temperature currently in the cabin. Set the second set of numbers to what you would like the temperature to be. There is a fan for use in your cabin, and an extra blanket on the back shelf, if needed.

The toilet seats are heated and have lights. The top button turns the seat light on and off and the lower button is the setting for low, medium and high for the seat warmer.
Each cabin has 2 regular coffees and 2 decaf Keurigs. If you are staying longer, please bring extra Keurigs for your stay.

The Overlook Hiking Trail, Eleven Mile Canyon
The Overlook Trail offers beautiful views of Eleven Mile Dam and Eleven Mile Reservoir, but it does not provide access to the reservoir. The fee is $7 per vehicle for access and the trail starts at Spillway campground, the furthest campground from the canyon entrance. This is a man-made trail, follow the stacked rocks and you will have a beautiful view once you are at the top!
