The best breakfast in Asheville, and everyone knows it! Plan to sip mimosa's, coffee or hot chocolate while you wait (and wait and wait) for a table. I'm definitely not trying to steer you away from this gem, but rather prepare you so you can enjoy the whole experience.

The most unique and scrumptious vegetarian restaurant I've ever been too. Even meat eaters will be pleasantly surprised with the dishes they are served. They have great smoothies too!

Neighborhood "dive bar and restaurant", 2 minute walk from the Airbnb. Great pub food with some vegetarian choices too. Unique liquor and beer choices. Old school indie music on the radio. Indoor and outdoor seating. My kid loves their wings. This is the owner's 2nd bar and both are highly successful with locals in Asheville.

See how the Vanderbilt's lived in their beautiful estate. Stroll in the gardens and enjoy the winery and restaurants. The self-guided audio tour of the home is fun especially for any Downton Abbey fans, who will appreciate the staff quarters.

Enjoy drinks outside at sunset in the summer. Walk the gardens, have dinner and enjoy the views. In the winter come inside and sit in the gigantic rocking chairs by the gigantic fire. The breakfast buffet is fabulous! The Lobby of this grand hotel is an experience in itself. You must pay for parking. During off seasons the first 2 hours are free.

Tons of restaurants and local shops. Independent businesses flourish in our unique city. Our favorite little shop is the "Bee Charmer", where you can sample different honey from Asheville.

Hiking

This is one of my favorite hikes. It's a tough 6 mile hike, with a gorgeous view at the top. Afterward we like to cool off at Looking Glass falls which is right around the corner from the John Rock parking lot.

Our favorite place to see a huge waterfall and play in the water and on the rocks. There are lots of stairs to access the falls. Most of the water is only ankle deep, but a brave few can venture into the very cold and 5 -7 ft deep water in the middle of the area.

A great short hike. There are a lot of roots that you will have to step over and some incline, but not too strenuous. When the flowers are blooming they form a beautiful canopy which feels magical. Bathrooms are nearby which is a bonus while on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

LOWER FALLS On hot summer days, Lower Falls is a popular Dog Friendly swimming hole for splashing around in the cool mountain water. The rocks are slick and there are no lifeguards on duty. So be careful! Less than two miles north on the Blue Ridge Parkway is Skinny Dip Falls - a wonderful spot for diving, swimming and soaking.

Bike Rides

MOUNTAIN BIKING Bent Creek Experimental Forest is, without question, the most popular destination for Asheville mountain biking. With about 30 miles of mountain bike trail (and many more miles of gravel forest road) a mere 20 minutes from downtown Asheville, it's a great in-town alternative for cyclists not wishing to travel far.

EXPERT ROAD CYCLISTS The Blue Ridge Parkway may have been designed as a scenic byway for motorists, but it has become a challenging and thrilling way to exercise with a road bike. Tens of thousands (if not more) cyclists will use the gorgeous vistas of the Parkway as their exercise gym, touring as little as a few miles to as much as all 469 miles
