This cute little park is our neighborhood playground and picnic area, located right next door to the elementary school. A nice walk to get there and fun for the kids. On snowy days when school is out there is a nice little hill to sled on the far end of the school yard.

Prepare for changing mountain weather!

Winter and early spring weather in the mountains can change quickly. Best to dress in layers and bring a couple options along with you for hikes and especially study the weather patterns in the Grand Canyon as that can change dramatically from the rim to down inside the canyon as well. Keep extra boots or tennis shoes in the car, along with blankets and jackets, and plastic rain ponchos. Also recommend deep woods mosquito spray with 40% deet.

How to find free parking downtown

I love to walk the historic old town of Flagstaff but parking can be tricky. If you don't mind walking an extra block or so free street parking can be found on San Francisco street at the top of the hill just past Cherry Street. San Francisco is a one way street so you can turn left on that from Route 66 and just follow it all the way up past the court house, then you can usually find open spots for free 2 hour parking.
