There is free parking areas across from the Mt Buffalo Chalet, which has public toilets, with lots of bush walking tracks and walks to several waterfalls, which start at the base of Mt Buffalo on the road up, and and also at the car Park with the platform lookout.

An hour’s drive from Porepunkah, Mt Hotham has the most stunning Alpine views to enjoy, makes a great day trip.
Watch the fabulous sunrises and sunsets in the cool of the alps while it's hot in the lowlands. Enjoy the local 'Genny' pub for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

The Ovens River runs from Harrietville right through to Wangarratta.
In Porepunkah, 700 metres walking distance from ‘Copper Leaf’, is the park which is right next to the Ovens River. A great picnic area with public toilets and playground. The Rail Trail goes right through it.
There are lots of bush walks running right next the Ovens as well.

Bike riding
If you bring your bikes, or you can hire in Bright, the new bike trail from Porepunkah to Harrietville is one of the best scenic rides in Victoria.
The distance is 70 kilometres return from Copper Leaf
At the end of a 35 kilometre ride from Porepunkah, you’ll find the quaint little coffee shop - HV KITCHEN, that offers great coffee, homemade ice cream, toasties for lunch, and patisserie as well as some products, great chai teas too!
Open from 10 am till 4pm Thursday to Monday inclusive.
