Dionysiou AreopagitouThe Monument of the Unknown Soldier is located in Syntagma Square, in front of the building of the Greek Parliament. It was built in the 1930s and, like all monuments of this type, is a cenotaph in honor of the fallen in war. The dead warrior in his left hand holds a circular shield, wearing an ancient helmet on his head with the face turned sideways to resemble an ancient coin. The artist's rendering of the body of the dead gives the impression to the viewer that the Unknown Soldier is resting alive, ready to be lifted. parade and a lot of people (tourists mainly) to watch! .
