Enjoying Pensacola: Our Favorite Things

Food scene

Great food (bacon wrapped dates, sautéed crab claws, calamari are some of our favorites) and a fun selection of wines. We love to eat outside.

We made our first attempt to eat here on a Monday night, without reservations. They were full even during COVID. Lunch at the bar is usually a fairly safe bet. To be certain, make reservations! What to eat? The Grits YaYa is delicious and so are their fried oysters. And the view isn't bad either!

The views are beautiful especially as the sun is setting. My favorite dish is the wild mushroom and truffle flatbread. They have a nice happy hour!

Relaxed, open-air dining right on the water. The Oar House features a dazzling selection of seafood. While you wait for a table, you can play volleyball on their sand courts.

This is a Pensacola tradition, very near us. It isn't fancy, but the who's who of Pensacola eat breakfast here and keep the city running over bottomless cups of coffee. If you ask nicely, you can get your grits special ordered. I like mine with bacon, cheese and jalapenos.

This is a great place for breakfast. Not as loud as the Coffee Cup and more upscale, Another Broken Egg features a wide selection of breakfast options. Everything from simple fruit and yogurt, to bacon and eggs, to pancakes. There is something for everyone. Here for me, it is an order of City Grits.

I highly recommend reservations for this place. It is popular, with limited seating. This is gourmet dining where you can try some fun things like a grouper and shrimp corn dog. (It was good!) My favorite is the brisket and cheddar patty melt or the crispy braised pork shank. Yummmmm No reservations are needed for bar seating.

This is a very cool place to visit. Huge selection of wine and beers, but the steak selection is what they are famous for. Go ahead, order that ribeye or the smoked prime rib.

Cool Things That Make Pensacola Fantastic

Pensacola offers beaches, military, a downtown area that looks like the French Quarter and Disney had a baby, amazing food and festivals almost every day of the year. There is always something going on and there is always something for everyone!
This market takes place on Saturday mornings beginning at 9am. There are artists and some food vendors, plants, musicians. It is a fun stroll. Look for David Boyce, the artist who painted the original art featured in the guest suite.

Pensacola is the cradle of Naval Aviation and home to the Blue Angels. Could a visit to Pensacola be complete without visiting the National Naval Aviation Museum? Currently, only DoD ID holders are allowed on base or in the museum. This could change at any time, so call before you go.

Neighborhoods

This is our neighborhood and your visit may not be complete without taking at least one stroll around the neighborhood. North Hill consists of just under 500 historic homes complete with beautiful yards. I'm sure you will find several things that take your breath away...(besides the hill, of course!)

Experience Pensacola

Download the "Experience Pensacola" app and carry a tour guide in your pocket. This handy app lets you search for dining, events, attractions, anything your heart desires. My favorite way to use it is to pull up the calendar and see what is available for me to go enjoy on any given day. A must have for Pensacola visitors.
