Marione Al Trebbio Trattoria is located just a short walk from the apartment. The trattoria is typically Tuscan, in the summer months guests can eat outside in the square in front of the trattoria. It offers all traditional dishes such as "ribollita" or "crespelle; the "tagliata alla frantoiana" is another speciality as well as the classical Florentine steak. To finish off a meal, a trolley of homemade desserts are available and are all accompanied by a very good wine list.

This restaurant is small and quiet near Santa Maria Novella square. It seems like a touristy place from outside, but once you enter you feel like home. Very cozy place, serving high quality tuscan food.

In the heart of the historical center, the Trattoria dei Tredici Gobbi is attended and very appreciated by both florentines and Italian and foreign tourists. Located in a historic building, the restaurant lives in comfortable environments with a familiar atmosphere and serves cuisine that rigorously interprets the old recipes of the most genuine Tuscan tradition. House specialty, the rigatonis served in ceramic tureen and the beef cut for 2 people served on the stump. In the heart of the tavern, a small Winter Garden in typical Tuscan style.

Around the tables of “il Latini” friendships are interwoven, all the world’s languages are spoken, fervent discussions are held and everyone tastes food that has the flavour of the old times past. Il Latini means tradition: a means of discovering Tuscany and its people. The kitchen is where the best products of Tuscany’s countryside are turned into the dishes typical of the tuscan tradition. Il Latini’s kitchen was originally the kitchen of Narciso’s wife, who used to take the dishes from her home to the cellars in Palazzo Rucellai where tables were set. Sora Maria’s cooking was made of ingredients and flavours typical of tuscan cuisine, simple and genuine food that nowadays are still a characteristic of the restaurant. The terrible flood in Florence did not spare the tavern, which continued nevertheless to serve warm dishes Florentine citizens among the muddy streets.

The "Buca Lapi" is one of the oldest restaurant in Florence. It was founded in 1880 in the Palazzo Antinori cellars and still shows evidence of more than a century of history, thanks to a very careful restoration. “Buca Lapi” is considered one of the best Trattoria in Florence. It is a traditional Trattoria, with casual attire and atmosphere, with careful service and refined cuisine. The menu includes all the best of the Tuscan tradition, using excellent products, light ingredients and giving you big portion! As the name says, Buca, means "hole", the restaurant is located in the cellar in the basement of the 16th century palace of the Antinori Family, a very famous noble family involved in wine business since centuries. As soon as you turn the corner you will smell the "bistecca flavour". You step down and you will be welcomed by Luciano, the great owner. The kitchen is full screen visible to the guests.

One of the oldest specialty food stores in town is located in the heart of the city. Leopoldo Procacci opened his shop in 1885, and with his historic, artistic and craft heritage quickly conquered the hearts of all Florentines who were particularly delighted by his truffle specialties. His truffle pâté sandwiches became – and still are – a local institution. The front room, with its gentle, unmistakable aroma of truffles, walnut shelves and green marble Art Nouveau counter, still conserves an early twentieth century atmosphere which makes it a classic gathering place for Florentines. The cellar is stocked with fine wines, and the shop offers a selection of exquisite gastronomic specialties which, prepared according to old recipes, have all the flavor and fragrance of a great craft tradition.

Simply one of the best restaurants in Florence. Delicious food in this charming restaurant of the Oltrarno. Well priced for the quality of food, it also features an excellent list of wines. In the menu, apart from the selection of delicious ham and cheeses, there are pasta dishes, soups and the so called "specialties". The atmosphere is very lively and the restaurants is always full so I suggest to reserve a table in advance. Don’t miss the adorable wine bar “Il Santino” beside Il Santo — it’s owned by the same people and it's perfect for tasting an italian "aperitivo".

Lungarno 23 is the Florence venue where you can enjoy genuine, healthy hamburgers of Tuscan Chianina made using only meat that comes directly from the breeding farms of the area of origin. The Chianina beef (IGP) reaches your table through a very short production and distribution chain.

Probably the best pizza in town, Berberè Craft pizza & beer opened in Florence in 2014, the pairing of Berberè’s pizzas with a passion for craft beers produced by small independent breweries. Located in the heart of Borgo San Frediano, which traditionally housed the artisan shops of Florence’s “Oltrarno” cultural district, the restaurant features a streamlined menu of selected pizzas (with particular attention to vegetarian offerings) made only from stoneground organic flour, in addition to wheat-free alternatives.

On the ground floor, you will find the butchers, fishmongers, fruit and vegetable vendors and small specialty shops selling local olive oils, meats, cheeses and much, much more. Recently re-opened to the public and renewed in 2014 is the second level to the market, open seven days a week from 10am through midnight. With 3000 square meters of space and 500 seats, the area is large enough for twelve individual stalls or sections, each dedicated to a different Italian specialty such as cheese, Chianti wine or baked goods. Imagine a one-stop food shopping center, divided into categories and stalls in which you can either buy specialty items to bring home or sit down to a farm fresh meal of your choice. Some other sections include the gelato and chocolate stall, the pizza and pasta stall, the meat stall, the fruit and vegetable stall, and many more. Each individual ‘laboratory’ showcases Italian specialities from all over the country (so not just Florence) and allows you to see the process first hand with clear glass windows that reveal what really happens behind the scenes. You can watch how bread is made, how the famous bufala cheese is handcrafted or watch how artisan gelato is still made from scratch. If that wasn’t enough to get you excited, there is also a coffee bar, a ‘Fiorentina’ store, selling all you need to show your pride for the Florentine soccer team and a Giunti bookstore specialized in cookbooks and other culinary subjects.

In 1953, Romeo, Amelia and his son Mario inaugurated this restaurant in Via Rosina, in the historic district of San Lorenzo. The oak ceiling coffer, still visible today in the inside, dates back to the mid-sixteenth century and belonged to the old stables of Palazzo del Gattamelata, now Palazzo Alessandri. Initially the store was a wine shop, in which the workers of the nearby Mercato Centrale met: porters, butchers, greengrocers. In 1957, after Mario's wedding, the shop became a Trattoria with table service and traditional hot dishes prepared with passion in a small kitchen, such as bean and vegetable soup, trippa alla fiorentina, tomato soup, pork loin, stewed meat and salted codfish. Trattoria Mario is today a meeting point for students and tourists from all over the world, and every day (thanks to the passion handed down from Mario and Elena to their children Romeo, Fabio and the rest of the family) makes the clients enjoy the flavours of Florentine tradition.

One of the most characteristic places in Florence, well known for its creative cuisine but also for its traditional Tuscan dishes. You can enjoy a delicious meal in the beautiful entrance room or in one of the two ancient cellars that offer an unforgettable atmosphere of Florence of the past. The restaurants separate areas of the ground floor and basement give Cantina Barbagianni the benefit of creating an atmosphere that is ideal for an array of occasions from a first date to a birthday celebration, from a business lunch to a conference dinner. Serving good quality and freshly prepared dishes using the finest seasonal produce available. The menu changes frequently and includes a wide choice of starters, fresh pasta, meat, fish, home made desserts and bread and some daily specials.
