The tropical-meets-midcentury space is filled with velvet banquettes, neon signs, plenty of greenery, and a wall dedicated to the owners’ pups. The Asian-influenced menu features some standout crudo including a Tasmanian ocean trout and a Japanese yellowtail with charred tangelo along with sharable plates and a smattering of entrees like the Miso sea bass fish and chips. The cocktail program is extensive and features frozen and tap offerings as well. During the day, the lounge flips to an espresso bar and co-working space.

We love it because the back opens on to a courtyard landscaped with green lawn, palm trees and lots of places to sit and enjoy the scenery. The kids can run around while the parents sit and chat or read the news. It’s perfect for a lazy weekend morning, complete with its in-house roasted coffees, fruit smoothies and sticky homemade cinnamon rolls.

Named for the region’s twisted, bristled Joshua trees, the park straddles the cactus-dotted Colorado Desert and the Mojave Desert, which is higher and cooler. Keys View looks out over the Coachella Valley. Hiking trails weave through the boulders of Hidden Valley.
