Parks & Nature

The best time to go to the Fairy Pools is anytime before 10.00am, or after 6.30pm - for peace and quiet. At all other times during the day - any day of the week - it can be incredibly busy. Once you have parked your car it will then take about 20 minutes to walk to the beginning of the pools, which are best viewed under a beautiful blue sky. This is when the waters become turquoise, resembling mini lagoons. The length of the pools can take another 30 minutes to walk so, all in all, put aside two hours for the trip. If the sky is overcast on the day you plan to visit the pools it is still a lovely walk. During the midge season netted hoods, or skin products are strongly advised.

Glenbrittle Beach is beautiful. The blackened sand from the blackened Cuillin. Enjoy scenes of River Brittle flowing into (Sea) Loch Brittle. The islands out to sea are Canna (Central); immediately to the left a slither of land called Sanday; further to the left, the larger island of Rhum. The campsite has recently renovated their cafe, serving Barista Coffee etc., alongside cakes. There is also a small shop element to the cafe selling camping style basic foods, juice, postcards, etc., Why not take a stroll along the beach with your favourite coffee, mocha or cappuccino and a piece of cake.

Sightseeing

"The Talisker Distillery is the oldest working distillery on the Isle of Skye, set on the shores of Loch Harport with dramatic views of the Cuillins. Producing an alluring, sweet, full-bodied single malt it is so easy to enjoy, and like Skye itself, so hard to leave". REVISED OPENING HOURS 2018 MAY - Monday - Saturday 09:30 - 17:00 Sunday 10:00 - 17:00 "As we are always busy here at Talisker there can be a wait for tour availability on arrival at the visitor centre. So we advise that you book in advance to avoid long waiting times or disappointment".
