Buurten

This part of Gent has a very cosy atmosphere, small streets and restaurants. Tip: Check out the Rococo. It's a rather unusual café...

Lovely to walk along the water and over the bridges! You can take beautiful pictures of the houses (with special architecture) next to the river. Tip: Check out Het Spijker, if you like old and dark cafés, maybe on a rainy day.

Train station closeby

Gontrode's train station is only a 10-minute-walk away. The train will take you to Gent in 15 minutes. You can find train schedules on the website of NMBS. Other options: bus & tram (check the site of De Lijn), your car (20'), your bike (30'). Maybe I can drop you off or pick you up, if it suits my personal agenda. Don't hesitate to ask me!

Gravesteen, castle in city centre

It's nice to see from the outside, but the inside is also worth your time. There's a museum with medieval artefacts, e.g. torture equipment. Google it and you'll find beautiful pictures and interesting information. You can also go to the tourist information center (only 50 metres from the castle) and ask for a map. Tip: Check out the café 't Einde der Beschaving ('End of Civilization'), Julie's House (bakery) or Hot Club Gent (jazz café).
