Sightseeing

La Solfatara is a magical and a must see place in Pozzuoli . It is a vent of a natural volcanic steam of sulfur gases. The place appears quite surreal and that's why unique in its genre. The quite strong smell of the steam is proportional to the therapeutic benefits it provides to the respiratory system. In the same area (8 Km on car route) there is Agnano, a place famous for its "hot sulfurous springs" called "Le Terme di Agnano", ancient Greeks and Romans thermal baths, where now people from all over the world go to get the benefits of the therapeutic treatments: fumigation, sauna in natural steam, massages, mud baths and so on)

Diving - Snorkeling - Sailing

This world famous Underwater Archaeological Park is in Baia (8 Km away from la Casa di Jo, 20 mins by car, 30-40 mins by Cumana-local metro). Intact statues, mosaic floors, colonnades, bases of marvelous villas and other impressive ruins unfold in a spectacular manner under the water. They are the ruins of the ancient Roman city of Baia, attracted by the most eminent Roman Emperors, Lucullus, Julius Caesar, Cicero, Nero for its healing medicinal hot springs, being the city situated over natural volcanic vents. This ancient city can nowadays be visited in one of the world’s few underwater archaeological parks, by glass-bottomed boats, snorkeling, or even scuba dives which allow people to actually swim among the ruins and come out of the water with a big wow-face on! I'll leave to you to find out what happened to the city and why is now covered by waves. How to reach the place: From La Casa di Jo walk 5 mins to La Cumana (local Metro) . You are actually at the stop called "Cappuccini". Take la Cumana direction "Torregaveta" Get off at "Lucrino", 4 stops. Walk for about 15 mins (1.1 Km) direction Baia. One way ticket hourly: 2 euro - to be punched at the yellow machine in the station. I recommend to buy two tickets, one to go and one to come back, to be punched at each station of departure (so, in Cappuccini and, when you come back, in Lucrino station). I would love to read your experience and feedback about this place!
