Food scene
Zaino is a favourite restaurant of ours, we usually end up there at least once during our trips .It is an Italian serving all the usual, pizza, pasta, antipasti etc, but it is very good.
It is always buzzing and has a really nice atmosphere. It is cozy in winter and has a large terrace in summer.
It is directly opposite the ferry terminal
They also do takeaway pizza.

Au Bureau Evian
Quai Baron de BlonayThis is an English style pub/restaurant. It is part of the Evian casino. It seems to be always busy and on big holidays/events it is mobbed.

Momento is a small wine bar that we really enjoy. The staff are always really helpful and the deco and layout are lovely.
They serve a selection of anti pasti which is really good and have some great wine. In summer they have a few tables outside on the street.
The atmosphere is always chilled out and nice.
It is on a back street behind the main street but worth searching out.

Momento
18Bis Rue du PortMomento is a small wine bar that we really enjoy. The staff are always really helpful and the deco and layout are lovely.
They serve a selection of anti pasti which is really good and have some great wine. In summer they have a few tables outside on the street.
The atmosphere is always chilled out and nice.
It is on a back street behind the main street but worth searching out.
Swimming places
Evian has a large lakeside outdoor pool complex. It is located on the west side of town as you drive in. It has a 50m heated pool and a childrens pool with wee slides. You can swim in the lake, there are diving boards also. The whole complex is very well kept with a huge grassy area where you can sit.
There are lockers ,toilets, cafe and shop.
It costs about 4.50 euros for an adult
A fabulous place on a hot day.
Please note, men must wear speedo type trunks to swin in the pool. If you are only in the lake it doesn,t matter

Grande rive is an area on the lake on the East side of Evian, it stretches for about 1km. It is a purpose built area where you can pull the car in and have a swim or a meal. It is really chilled out and has large grassy areas, restaurants ,cafes etc.
Its free so very popular!
Always a nice place to spend a few hours.

There is a big waterpark here, called Aquapark. It has all the usual stuff plus a couple of big loops. Our kids always enjoyed it. It is quite a large area which includes a lakeside swimming/picnic area.
You can pay for lakeside only, sometimes we would do that and the family would come over and meet us there.
It is about a 25 min drive along the lake in Switzerland

There is a large picnic , lakeside leisure area at Amphion Les Bains, a mile or so west of Evian.There is a large forest area where families have bbq,s and kids play football etc. There is a big swimming area with guards.
You can swim at Amphion just at the roadside also.

Day trips, further afield
Bern is about a 2 hour drive from Evian and is the capital of Switzerland.
It is a very attractive medieval city with an incredible old town centre ,which curves round the river It is really beautiful in summer with flowers everywhere.There are boat tours on the river that surround the old town. You can walk through town and at the far side there is a huge park/enclosure that houses the famous black bears.
A lovely historic place to spend a day.
It is quite large so we just headed to the old town and did all our sight seeing there.

Bern
Bern is about a 2 hour drive from Evian and is the capital of Switzerland.
It is a very attractive medieval city with an incredible old town centre ,which curves round the river It is really beautiful in summer with flowers everywhere.There are boat tours on the river that surround the old town. You can walk through town and at the far side there is a huge park/enclosure that houses the famous black bears.
A lovely historic place to spend a day.
It is quite large so we just headed to the old town and did all our sight seeing there.

Yvoire is a small medieval town on the banks of Lac Leman, located between Geneva and Evian. It can get very very busy with bus tours and the Swiss cruise boats doc there as well. People go for a walk around and visit the quirky shops and then a bit of lunch.
Is is incredible pretty and just covered with flowers in summer

You can take the fast commuter ferry over to Lausanne for the day. You can access the Swiss rail and boat serices from there which offer multiples tour options.
It is a nice city with all the uaual stuff, high end shops and restaurants, museums etc.The last ferry back is about 10.30pm i think.
The area of Ouchy, which is where the boats all come in is a nice spot to sit for lunch.
We have gone over just for lunch and a wander as the ferry journey has beautiful views all around and you can sit outside.

Lausanne
You can take the fast commuter ferry over to Lausanne for the day. You can access the Swiss rail and boat serices from there which offer multiples tour options.
It is a nice city with all the uaual stuff, high end shops and restaurants, museums etc.The last ferry back is about 10.30pm i think.

Bernex is a lovely village about 15 minute drive above Evian, In winter it is a great little ski resort and in summer you can follow the alpine trails where there are some wonderful marked walks.

The Evian Market
Evian has a great local market every Tuesday and Friday morning.In the summer it extends to clothing and household stuff.
It has a great selection of local fruit, veg, cheese,meat etc and is a great place to spend a morning.
Parking close to the market is always busy , park further away and walk.
The main food market is based around the church.

Supermarkets
There is a new Carrefour up beside the train station and also an Aldi, but we have never managed to find the entrance to Aldi,s!
There is also Casino at the same end of town
There is a large retail area in Amphian, just a couple of minutes before Evian. There is a large Cora superstore and on the other side of the road is SuperU.
We usually stop at Super U because you drive right past it and it is not such a big shop so does not take so long.
Evian has lots of small local shop also.
